Gabrielle Cox returns to the Manhattanville University women’s ice hockey team ahead of the 2024-25 season as assistant coach for the Valiants, effective August 2024.

Cox will stand behind the bench that she made her name on for three years. After beginning her collegiate career with a pair of seasons at Division I Mercyhurt, Cox transferred to Manhattanville ahead of her junior season where she went on to quickly establish herself as one of the top scorers in the UCHC. In three years with the Valiants, Cox became a 100-point scorer, recording 75 goals and 30 assists.

Cox first appeared as an All-UCHC First Team selection in the 2022-23 season after leading the nation in goals per game (1.15) and short handed goals (4). In total, she ended the year with a career-high 39 points on 31 goals and eight assists. Managing to outdo herself as a graduate student in 2023-24, Cox was named the conference’s Player of the Year, a CCM/AHCA All-American, finalist for the Laura Hurd Division III Player of the Year, USCHO Division III Third Team, and Manhattanville’s nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year. As a result of her efforts on the ice, Cox was selected as Manhattanville’s Female Athlete of the Year both in 2023 and 2024.

Off the ice at the Playland Ice Casino, Cox worked in multiple coaching positions since arriving in Westchester. Cox has been a member of the staff of Rye Country Day School since 2021, first serving as an assistant coach for the girl’s high school and co-ed middle school ice hockey teams. Cox later went on to work as a physical education teacher, assistant softball coach and fields supervisor with Rye Country Day.

Cox also served as an assistant coach with State Line Hockey in 2023 through 2024, overseeing practices and defensive play calling.

Cox earned a Bachelor of Arts in sport studies in 2023 as an undergraduate and began pursuit of her Master’s of Education in physical education and sports pedagogy in fall 2023. A native of Niverville, N.Y., Cox currently resides in Purchase, N.Y.
