Box Score DALLAS, Pa. – The Manhattanville men's basketball team fell to 1-1 in Freedom Conference play with a 66-42 loss to Misericordia on Saturday afternoon at the Anderson Center.

Misericordia's Ethan Eichhorst led all scorers with 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while brothers Dylan and Justin Grotevant both tallied 10 points for the Cougars as well. For Manhattanville, senior
Trevoy Pointer (Dallas, Texas/Skyline) was the lone player in double figures with 17 points, with sophomore
Jack Bramswig (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) adding six points and a game-high nine rebounds as well.
The one bright spot on the day was Pointer, whose 17 points moved him into 15th place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,202 career points. Next up on the scoring list is Brendon Murray '02 at 1,203 points and Mike Benziger '06 at 1,204 points.

It was a struggle offensively for Manhattanville in the opening 20 minutes, as the Valiants shot just 36.0 percent (9 for 25) and turned the ball over 10 times. Misericordia, on the other hand, connected at a 46.2 percent clip (12 for 26) to get out to a 13-point halftime lead at 31-18.

The team had a tough time right out of the gate, as the Cougars started the day on an 8-0 run thanks to a pair of threes by Eichhorst. Pointer finally got the Valiants on the scoreboard 5:43 into the first half with a jumper, and the Valiants followed with another Pointer bucket and a jumper from senior
Armani Blackmon (Plano, Texas/Plano East) to get back within two at 8-6.

But Misericordia followed with 10 of the next 12 points to gain its first double-digit lead of the game, as Manhattanville did not get within 10 for the remainder of the half.

Pointer had a solid first half for the visitors, connecting on 5 of 8 shots for 10 points, but none of his teammates had more than one basket to help him out. Bramswig did a good job on the boards in the first half, hauling in a game-high six.

After an Eichhorst jumper to start the second half pushed the Misericordia lead to 15, the Manhattanville offense started to show some life, as the visitors got the deficit back down to single digits after a three-pointer from senior
Ivan Jovicic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sports HS Belgrade) made it a 39-30 game with 13:17 to go.

But the Cougars came right back with an 11-0 run, led by eight points from the brothers Grotevant, to stretch the lead all the way to 21 points (51-30) with more than nine minutes left on the clock. Manhattanville never got close the rest of the way, with the final score of 66-42 accounting for the largest lead of the afternoon.

The Valiant shooting got no better in the second half, as the visitors finished at 31.4 percent (16 for 51) from the field, including 1 of 12 from beyond the arc. Misericordia was not on fire shooting the ball either, hitting on 40.4 percent (19 for 47) of its attempts, but also hit on 22 of 24 shots from the charity stripe in the win.
