Camaj led all players with five kills on 13 attacks in the opening frame.
The middle frame started out similarly, with neither team gaining much of an advantage early. Chittenden was nearly flawless in the set for the Valiants, posting four kills without an error on six attempts.
Purchase took the action to Manhattanville to start the third set, scoring six of the frame's first eight points, but the Valiants eventually battled back to knot the score at 10. That game-tying point came in the midst of a game-changing 11-2 Valiant run, which was helped by four service aces. Up by six at 18-12, Manhattanville was able to close out the Panthers in straight sets and complete the season-opening win.
