Caiazzo, Raaf and Franklin Propel Valiants Past Purchase In 60-43 Victory

PURCHASE, N.Y.- Senior Alyson Caiazzo (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) tallied a game-high 20 points and 24 rebounds while juniors Ashley Raaf (Rockaway Beach, N.Y./Christ The King) and Ashley Franklin (New Haven, Conn./Hill Regional Career) combined for 26 points on Tuesday night, guiding the Manhattanville women's basketball team past Purchase College by a final score of 60-43.

Manhattanville (3-1) earned its third consecutive win of the season, dominating Purchase (1-3) inside the paint, outscoring the Panthers 44-26 on the interior. The Valiants also outrebounded Purchase 52-39 in the win as both Caiazzo and Franklin finished with a double-double, combining for 40 rebounds in the contest.

The Valiants jumped out quick on the Panthers, utilizing back-to-back baskets from Caiazzo in the opening minutes, taking a 6-2 lead after two minutes of play. The Panthers were able to answer Manhattanville, jumping out on a 13-5 run, holding a 16-11 lead with 11:39 left in the half. Down by five, the Valiants started to catch fire, going on a 20-4 run led by Caiazzo and Raaf, rallying for a 30-20 lead with under four minutes left in the first. Sophomore Jazmin Pryce (Patterson, N.Y./Brewster) added additional help down low for Manhattanville, scoring six points in the first half.

After taking a 10-point lead near the end of the first half, the Valiants would never look back as Manhattanville led for the rest of the game. Headed into halftime, Manhattanville held a 32-24 edge over Purchase.

The Valiants picked up right where they left off in the second half, continuing to wreak havoc inside the paint, refusing to allow Purchase a chance at a comeback. Manhattanville led by double figures for most of the second half before taking down the Panthers by a final score of 60-43 in the annual "Battle of Anderson Hill Road."

Manhattanville will travel for its next game against Hunter College on December 1, tipping off at 5 p.m.
