Volleyball Drops a Pair on Day Two of Allegheny Gator Invitational

Junior Allison Regan had 21 kills and four blocks in two matches for the Valiants on Saturday.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Manhattanville College women's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses on day two of the Allegheny Gator Invitational on Saturday, falling to Pittsburgh-Greensburg and the host Gators by 3-1 scores at the Wise Center.
 
The Valiants had a good hitting outing in the first match of the day, but it wasn't enough as the squad fell to Pitt.-Greensburg in four close sets, 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 25-18).
 
Freshman Kerry Mackey (Smithtown, N.Y./Christ the King) had the best day of her young career, putting down a match-high 14 kills on 30 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. Sophomore Alissa Primavera (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) added 13 kills and seven digs, while junior Allison Regan (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) also had her best match as a Valiant so far with 12 kills and three blocks.
 
Sophomore Megan Quinabo (Pearl City, Hawaii/Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama) had the only double-double for either side, registering match-highs of 37 assists and 20 digs to go with a team-best three service aces.
 
As a team, Manhattanville hit .215 with a season-high 51 kills, but Pitt.-Greensburg also had a good hitting day by attacking at a .238 clip with 35 kills and only 10 errors.
 
In the second match of the day, Manhattanville surprised Allegheny with a set-one win but the Gators came back to take the next three in a 3-1 (21-25, 8-25, 13-25, 19-25) victory over the Valiants.
 
Primavera was the lone Valiant in double figures this time around, hitting .226 with 11 kills on 31 attempts. Regan just missed double figures for the second straight match, finishing with nine kills on .263 hitting, while junior Jillian Chittenden (Rye, N.Y./Rye) also hit well with six kills on .308 hitting.
 
Senior Alyssa Casino (Rye Brook, N.Y./Maria Regina) led all players with a match-high 19 digs, while Quinabo had another double-double with 23 assists and 13 digs.
 
Manhattanville (6-5) will start the all-important Freedom Conference schedule on Wednesday, as the Valiants host FDU-Florham in a key early-season matchup at Kennedy Gymnasium beginning at 7 p.m.
