WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Manhattanville College women's volleyball team battled back from a pair of one-set deficits, but King's (Pa.) College got out to a quick start in the fifth set and then closed strong to deal the Valiants a 3-2 (25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-13) defeat in a MAC Freedom match on Tuesday night at Scandlon Gymnasium.
Manhattanville (14-9, 1-5 MAC Freedom) remains in a tie for sixth place in the conference standings with one match to go, while King's (19-6, 3-3 MAC Freedom) retains secures at least a fifth-place finish in the MAC Freedom this year.
The match was not without its highlights for the Valiants, namely the play of junior
Megan Quinabo (Pearl City, Hawaii/Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama). Already Manhattanville's all-time assists leader, the setter registered a program-record 51 assists on Tuesday, breaking the previous record of 50 set by Jodi Kiggins '88 way back on September 8, 1987. She also added 13 digs for her 12th double-double of the year.

Alissa Primavera (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) had a double-double of her own on the night, putting down a season-high 21 kills on 69 attempts to go with 11 digs. Entering the week ranked 12th in Division III in hitting percentage, sophomore
Kerry Mackey (Smithtown, N.Y./Christ the King) had another excellent match on Tuesday, putting down a career-high 18 kills with only two errors on 35 attempts for a .457 clip.

Asia Reid (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Nellie A. Thornton High School) also had a good match with a season-high 16 kills on .444 hitting, while junior
Adrianna Alves (New Rochelle, N.Y./Maria Regina) added a career-high 19 digs to lead the team.
In the decisive fifth set, King's jumped out to an early 8-3 lead, but Manhattanville stormed back to win 10 of the next 14 points and take a 13-12 advantage. The lead did not last long, however, as the Lady Monarchs evened the score at 13 and then tacked on two more for the set and match victory.
The Valiants will play their final four matches of the season at home, beginning with their second tri-match of the year against Sarah Lawrence College and Rutgers-Newark on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
