ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Manhattanville College field hockey team suffered a 5-0 setback in MAC Freedom play to #19 Eastern University Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles (11-4 overall, 5-1 MAC Freedom) applied pressure on the attacking end all afternoon, recording 15 shots on goal and 16 corners while holding the Valiants (6-12 overall, 1-5 MAC Freedom) to just 4 shots on goal and 4 corners for the game. Â
Eastern jumped out ahead early, recording four goals in eleven minutes to take a 4-0 lead in the first half. Danielle Frasca got the scoring started for the Eagles in the 18th minute. Eastern followed it up with goals by Macel Talhem, Gina Miller, and Haylee Wood.
Junior goalkeeper
Meghan Hughes (Kintnersville, Pa./Palisades) made nine saves in 43 minutes of actions on the afternoon but it wasn't enough to stop the Eagle attack. Senior forward
Rylee McGuire (Grantham, N.H./Lebanon) was able to record two shots on goal, but was unable to find the back of the cage, leaving her still two points shy of the 100 point mark for her career. Â
The Valiants will return home to wrap up their 2015 season on Tuesday for Senior Day, when they play host to FDU-Florham in a MAC Freedom contest at 5:00 P.M.
