Men's Soccer Falls to DeSales in OT 1-0

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After playing to a scoreless draw for the first 90 minutes of action, the Manahttanville College men's soccer team fell to DeSales University 28 seconds into overtime Tuesday afternoon.

The Valiants (8-6, 1-2 MAC Freedom) outmatched the Bulldogs (7-5-2, 2-1 MAC Freedom) during regulation, outshooting DeSales 11-7, holding an 8-0 advantage in shots on goal.  However the Valiants were unable to beat reigning Rookie of the Year, Dan Sulpizo as the junior made eight saves to keep Manhattanville scoreless on the afternoon.

In the overtime period, Zach Reichard crossed a ball past a diving Tim Carsting (Falun, Sweden/Soltorgsgymnasiet) and Max Cortina tapped it into an unguarded net to give the Bulldogs the win on their first shot on goal of the afternoon.

Junior Jeffrey Carreira (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) led the Valiants with five shots on the day, while senior Omar Parra (Gulfport, Miss./Gulfport) recorded three shots, junior Jefferson Santos had two and sophomore Michael Jean-Charles (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) had one to round out Manhattanville's 11 shot attempts.

Finding themselves a game out of a playoff position with the loss, Manhattanville will have a crucial matchup versus King's College on Saturday at GoValiants.com Field beginning at 1:00 pm.
