FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday afternoon, falling to Farmingdale State 12-6 in a non-conference matchup.
Juniors
Andrew Murray (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) and
Ed Motherway (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) each netted two goals for the Valiants (1-1 overall) and junior goalkeeper
Zach Hoffman (Loudonville, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) made 12 saves but Manhattanville was unable to stop Rams attacker Tyler Rifice who scored seven goals on the afternoon.
Manhattanville fell behind to Farmingdale State (1-0 overall) in the first quarter when the Rams tallied the first two goals of the afternoon. Manhattanville answered with Motherway's first of the afternoon to cut the deficit in half after one period of play.
The Rams shut out the Valiants in the second quarter and scored the next seven goals in the contest to take a 9-1 lead. Motherway and Murray scored to end the run, but the Valiants allowed three more goals from the Rams to make it a 12-4 game.
The Valiants would tack on three goals in the final two and a half minutes, including the first career goal for freshman

Manhattanville returns to action Saturday afternoon when they play host to Alvernia University in the home opener at GoValiants.com Field. Faceoff for that matchup is slated for 1:00 P.M.
