BOSTON, Mass. – The Valiant lacrosse team struggled to get the offense going on Saturday, falling to UMass Boston 9-2 in a non-conference matchup.
Sophomore
Tyler Bentrewicz (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) led the Valiants (3-4 overall) on the offensive end, scoring both Manhattanville goals and recording six shots on the night. Senior
Connor Normandin (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) added an assist for the Valiants and junior
Kyle Kelvas (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) and sophomore
Jacob Cayton (Stratford, Conn./Stratford) picked up three ground balls apiece in the loss. Junior goalkeeper
Zach Hoffman (Loudonville, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) made ten saves on 19 shots in the loss.
The Beacons (7-2 overall) controlled the game from the first faceoff, scoring six first half goals to lead 6-1 at the halftime break. Bentrewicz added his second goal in the third quarter but the Valiants could not overcome the halftime deficit. The Beacons added two more in the fourth to drop the Valiants by the 9-2 final.
The Valiants return to action on Wednesday when they host Maritime College. Faceoff for that contest is set for 7:00 P.M.
