Women's Lacrosse Closes Non-Conference Play with Loss at Kean

UNION, N.J. – Kean University's Samantha Gnapp scored four times and added four assists for a game-high eight points as the Cougars dealt Manhattanville College an 18-4 defeat in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

Gnapp led 11 different goal scorers for Kean (12-2) with her four goals, a total matched by teammate Emily Stasuk. Jordan Blanda also registered four points for the Cougars on two goals and two assists.

Four different players scored for Manhattanville (5-8), with juniors Jenna Nance (Glendale, Calif./Glendale) and Sarah Dalsey (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) joining freshmen Kat Reilly (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) and Alex Breen (South Windsor, Conn./Kingswood Oxford School) in finding the net. Reilly added an assist for a team-high two points.

Gnapp scored three times as part of a game-opening 4-0 run for the home team before Dalsey got the Valiants on the board at the 9:39 mark of the first half. That was the only goal for the visitors in the opening 30 minutes, as Kean netted the next eight and then the first two of the second half to open up a 14-1 lead early in the second stanza that Manhattanville could not overcome.

Kean finished the contest with a 41-13 edge in shots. Junior Lauren Cassidy (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) got the start for the Valiants and made six saves, while also helping to limit Kean to just a 2-of-11 effort from the eight-meter arc.

Manhattanville's final three games of the regular season all come in crucial MAC Freedom play, beginning with a must-win clash with King's (Pa.) College on Saturday in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
