DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Manhattanville racked up 17 hits and plated 14 runs as the Valiants improved to 10-6 in conference play and move into third place in the MAC Freedom standings with a win over Delaware Valley Friday.

On the mound, sophomore
Pat Badia (Somers, N.Y./Somers) remained unbeaten for the Valiants (20-11 overall, 10-6 MAC Freedom), earning his fifth win of the season with 5.1 innings pitched, allowing four runs. Sophomore
Dennis Berardi (Brewster, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic) added two innings in relief, striking out three Aggies along the way.
The Valiants used a seven-run fourth inning and a six-run eighth to pull away from Delaware Valley (14-13 overall, 3-11 MAC Freedom). After falling behind 2-0, Manhattanville took the lead with seven runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Nunez and an RBI triple by Lynch.
The Aggies cut into the lead with a run in the fifth and one in the sixth to make it a 7-4 game. After a scoreless seventh, the Valiants exploded for six more runs in the top of the eighth. Lynch once again put an exclamation point on the rally with a two run homerun to give Manhattanville a 12-4 lead.
An RBI single from Nunez in the ninth made it 14-5. The Aggies scored three runs in the ninth but it was not enough as the Valiants held on for the win in the opening game of the three game set 14-8.
Manhattanville returns to action Saturday when they host Delaware Valley in a doubleheader matchup on Senior Day to wrap up the series at Manhattanville Field. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
