Scoggins attempted to rally the Valiants with an RBI single to cut the deficit to two runs but the Valiants could not manufacture a run after that. The Bulldogs scored four more runs over their final two at bats of the game to take game one of the series 11-5.
Tyler Cooperman earned his fifth win of the season for DeSales while Moschetti suffered his first loss of the season.
Due to the poor weather forecasted for Purchase on Saturday, the Valiants doubleheader against the Bulldogs has been postponed until Sunday. The two teams will square off with game one beginning at 1:00 P.M. to wrap up the season series.
