PURCHASE, N.Y – Three goals in an eight-minute span doomed the Manhattanville College men's soccer team as the Valiants dropped their first game at home this season 3-0 to Drew University Saturday afternoon.
Â
After battling the Rangers to a scoreless draw in the first half, the Rangers got the scoring started in the 52nd minute when freshman Andy Imoh beat freshman goalkeeper
Tim Carsting (Falun, Sweden/Soltorgsgymnasiet) inside the left post for his fourth goal of the season. The Rangers used the momentum to score twice more in the following eight minutes, using a deflected shot and a loose cross in the box to put the game out of reach.
Â
The Valiants had opportunities late to spur some momentum, but were turned away each time by Ranger keeper Stephan Lukianov who made four saves to earn his first win of the season. Carsting made three saves in goal for the Valiants and junior defender
Christoffer Staahl (Lulea, Sweden/Kungsfaegeln) led the offensive attack with two shots on goal on the day.Â
Â
The loss marked the first time the Valiants dropped in nearly two years. The team looks to buck that trend on the road Wednesday when they travel to Mount Saint Vincent for a 3:00 matchup. It will be the first matchup between the two squads.Â
