RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Senior
Omar Parra (Gulfport, Miss./Gulfport) netted a hat trick in the first half to lead Manhattanville past The College of Mount Saint Vincent 4-2 Wednesday afternoon.
Â
Parra continued his impressive senior campaign on Wednesday, scoring three goals in a span of 28:23 to give the Valiants the early advantage. After Manhattanville (4-3 overall) fell behind after a goal in the sixth minute, Parra leveled the scoring at 1-1 with his fourth goal of the season on an assist from junior
Robin Schaufele (Kalix, Sweden/Kungsfaegeln). The senior gave Manhattanville the lead eleven minutes later, this time heading home a cross from Schaufele before capping off the hat trick with a goal in the 38th minute from freshman
Mateo Herron (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Mayor de los Andes).Â
Â
Junior captain
Christoffer Staahl (Lulea, Sweden/Kungsfaegeln) got in on the scoring in the second half as well, putting home his fifth career goal on a ball from sophomore
Michael Jean-Charles (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) to put the game out of reach. A goal from the Dolphins (2-5-1 overal) in the 90th minute made it a 4-2 final in favor of the Valiants.

Senior
Norbi Bengyel (Budapest, Hungary/PEAC School for Elite Athletes) picked up his first collegiate win Wednesday, stopping six shots in his first career start.Â
Â
"From a coaching and development standpoint this was actually a perfect test for us today on the road. A midweek road game on a tiny grass field that was super long and muddy meant that the game was all about scrapping and competing. To be fair the conditions made it so that there wasn't much soccer played and it became all about competing for first and second balls which is something we know we need to improve. We definitely took steps forward today. We're excited to come back home on Saturday," said head coach
Kyle Dezotell.
Â
The Valiants will look to make it two wins in a row Saturday in their return to GoValiants.com Field when they host the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice at 1:00 pm.
