DOYLESTOWN, P.A. – Freshman
Pablo Bravo Olle (Barcelona, Spain/LFG Bon Soleil) recorded his first career hat trick to lead the Manhattanville College men's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Delaware Valley University in a MAC Freedom matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Bravo Olle's three goals were backed up by a goal and an assist apiece from senior
Oskar Martinsson (Orust, Sweden/Uddevalla Gymnasieskola) and freshman
Jon Kyriakidis (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y./Pleasantville). After recording just one goal in their last four matches, Manhattanville (7-8-1, 2-3 MACF) came out on fire, scoring three goals within the first 18 minutes.
Bravo Olle struck first, curving a shot from just outside the 18-yard box inside the right post in the eighth minute, his third goal of the season. Less than 50 seconds later, Martinsson scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season, getting by a Delaware Valley (5-10, 0-6 MACF) defender, then beating Aggies' goalkeeper Connor Hedgepeth from just outside the six-yard box. Kyriakidis joined the scoring when he controlled a long pass just outside the 18-yard box and buried his fifth goal of the season just under the crossbar.
Bravo Olle recorded his second goal of the match less than 30 seconds into the second half off a pass across the top of the box from Kyriakidis, beating Hedgepeth inside the left post. He completed his hat trick off a touch pass from Martinsson at the top of the box less than four minutes later.
Defensively, the Valiants held the Aggies to a single shot on goal, the team's fewest shots on goal allowed this season.
The team will wrap up the 2017 regular season next Saturday, honoring Martinsson and the nine other upcoming graduates on Senior Day before a conference match-up with Wilkes at 3:30 p.m. The Valiants need a win against the Colonels to have any chance of making the MAC Freedom Tournament.
