Andrew Murray (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) added three goals of his own but it was not enough for the Valiants as they fell to Farmingdale State 16-11 in their 2017 opening matchup Wednesday evening at GoValiants.com Field.
Duval finished the night with six points in his debut with the Valiants, adding three assists to go with the three goals. Murray added an assist as well for four points, and senior
Colin Morrissey (Shelton, Conn./St. Joseph), sophomore

Erik Sparby (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) scored his first goal of the season as well. Freshman
Jason Frezza (Lake Ronkonkoma/Portledge) made his collegiate debut between the pipes before giving way to senior

Manhattanville kicked off the 2017 campaign with the lead when senior
Andrew Murray (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) tallied his first goal of the year 1:25 into the game. After Farmingdale State took the lead moments later, Manhattanville went back on top when Duval netted the first of his career. The Rams used a six-goal stretch to take a commanding lead late in the quarter and held a 7-2 advantage at the end of the first 15 minutes.
The Valiants responded with two goals in 32 seconds early in the second stanza to cut the deficit to three goals. Sophomore
Tristan Green (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow) tallied his first career goal and Manhattanville took advantage of a Ram penalty to find the back of the net quickly off Duval's second of the game. The two squads traded four goals over the next nine minutes before the Rams scored the final two goals of the half to make it 11-6 at the halftime break.
Farmingdale continued to roll to begin the second half, scoring the first four goals of the third quarter to extend their lead to nine goals, 15-6. The Valiants clawed back into the game with three goals over the next 64 seconds of game time to make it 15-9. After a Ram goal, Green and Murray found the back of the net to make it a five-goal game with 2:09 to play but that is as close as the crimson and black would get, as the Rams held on for the victory in Manhattanville's season opener.
Manhattanville drops to 0-1 on the season with the loss while the Rams improve to 2-0 to begin the 2017 season. The Valiants will look to earn their first win of the season when they take on Saint Joseph's (L.I.) on Saturday with faceoff scheduled for 1:00 pm.
