Weiss had another huge day for Manhattanville (10-4, 4-1 MAC Freedom), which reached double figures in wins for just the second time in program history with the victory. In addition to her career-high eight goals, the junior led all players with six ground balls and seven draw controls while causing one turnover as well.
Senior
Jenna Nance (Glendale, Calif./Glendale) also had an excellent day, scoring a career-high five goals and adding an assist for a career-best six points in the win. Sophomore
Kat Reilly (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) added three goals and senior
Sarah Dalsey (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) had a goal, three ground balls, three caused turnovers and four draw controls as well.
Manhattanville took control of the game early, scoring 10 of the first 11 goals as part of a dominant first half that saw the visitors hold a 25-7 edge in shots. Reilly started the scoring 42 seconds into the game and then, after a Callie Flowers goal tied the game, the Valiants scored nine in a row to take control. Nance scored the first two goals of the run and then Weiss potted four of the next seven. Three of the team's goals during the streak came while man-up, as well as a key man-down goal from Dalsey.
After a three-goal stretch from the Lady Colonels on both sides of halftime, eight straight Valiant goals in the second half put the game away. Weiss again had four goals to set her new career high during the run, which was capped by the third goal of the year from senior
M.J. Caro (Nantucket, Mass./Nantucket).
Senior
Lauren Cassidy (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) earned the win between the pipes by making five saves on 11 attempts. The Valiants finished the afternoon with a 45-19 edge in shots and a 26-20 advantage in ground balls, led by Weiss' six and five from sophomore
Evaline Diaz (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley).
Manhattanville will finish out the road portion of its regular-season slate on Wednesday, when the Valiants travel to FDU-Florham for a 6 p.m. matchup.
