Sinning and Lopes' Multi-Goal Games Lead Women's Hockey to 8-2 Win

PITTSTON, Pa. – The Manhattanville College women's hockey team wrapped up their season series with UCHC/MAC member King's Sunday afternoon, scoring four first period goals in an 8-2 victory.

Senior Sarah Sinning (Southold, N.Y./National Sports Academy) had two goals for Manhattanville (9-7-1, 6-2, UCHC, 4-0 MAC), as did freshman Tianna Lopes (West Vancouver, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers), the first multi-goal game of her career. Sophomore Maisey Kettlewood (Nottingham, N.H./Dover) scored her first goal of the season while seniors Melissa Stys (Pequannock, N.J./The Kent School), Kristi Peters (Newport Beach, Calif./Anaheim Lady Ducks), and Cassie Kent (Lake Placid, NY/Northwood School) all scored for the second straight game; Stys and Peters each scored twice Saturday, while Kent recorded her first career hat trick.

Lopes started the scoring Sunday just 30 seconds into the game, then added her second on the short-hand at 8:18. Josee Aitken got King's (0-15-1, 0-9-1 UCHC, 0-5-1 MAC) on the board at 14:55 of the period, knocking one past freshman goalie Lexi Crites (Middleboro, Mass/Kents Hill School) making her first career start, but Stys regained Manhattanville's two goal lead at 16:42, and Peters made it 4-1 at 18:38.

At 10:51 of the second period, Kettlewood went five-hole on Monarchs' goalie Brittany Rose, Manhattanville's lone score in a 22-shot period.

Sinning notched her first goal of the day at 2:53 of the final period, then struck again just under five minutes later. After Aitken's second of the game made it 7-2, Kent added the game's final goal at 14:55.

Sophomore Ashley Lougheed (Vancouver, B.C./Pacific Steelers) had two assists for Manhatanville for the second straight game, while freshman Diana Piacquadio (Port Washington, NY/Gilmour Academy) recorded her first collegiate point in her second appearance of the season.

The Valiants continue UCHC action next weekend on the road against William Smith. The two-game series starts Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
