ST. DAVIDS, PA. -- The Manhattanville College women's volleyball team played a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom match Tuesday night, Oct. 16, against Eastern University on the road. The Valiants stayed close in the first set but fell 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-7) to the hosting Eagles.
Manhattanville (7-11, 1-5 MACF) was led by senior hitter
Laura LiVolsi (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville)Â offensively, as she recorded eight kills. Freshman setter
Sarah Camarena (Los Angeles, Calif./Sacred Heart (H.S.))Â dished out 12 assists and notched five digs against Eastern (19-3, 5-1 MACF). Sophomore libero
Monica Lopez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Notre Dame) led all players with a match-best 18 digs for the Valiants.
The squad will take a brief respite from conference play this weekend when it travels to Haverford, Pa., for a tri-match at Haverford College. Action begins for the Valiants with a neutral match Saturday, Oct. 20, against Dickinson College at 2:00 p.m. Manhattanville then faces the hosting Fords at 4:00 p.m. The Valiants then return to Kennedy Gymnasium next Wednesday, Oct. 24, for a 7:00 p.m. MAC Freedom match with Delaware Valley College. That match will be their "Dig 4 The Cure" Breast Cancer Awareness game.
