PURCHASE, N.Y. -- The Manhattanville College field hockey team celebrated its two graduating seniors Saturday, Oct. 20, at GoValiants.com Field on Senior Day. The Valiants hosted Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Eastern University Saturday, but unfortunately fell to the visiting Eagles 5-0.
The Valiants (5-11, 1-5 MACF) managed two shots on net on the day, and both were attempted by senior forward
Emily Antinozzi (Rye, N.Y./Rye), while senior defender
Brooke Hadgraft (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) anchored the backline against the Eagles (5-11, 3-3 MACF).
Overall, the story of the match for Manhattanville was rookie keeper
Zoe Fillebrown (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North), who made her return to the field after missing a pair of contests due to injury. Fillebrown stopped 16 shots on the day and kept the Valiants in contention for most of the match. She was helped out by sophomore defender
Isela Casillas (Chula Vista, Calif./Eastlake), who made a season-high two defensive saves.
The Valiants will return to the field for one final home game this season when they host Wesley College this Monday, Oct. 22, in a non-conference match. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
