Pacheco Scores in 4-1 Loss to WestConn

PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Sophomore midfielder Ashley Pacheco (Throggs Neck, N.Y./Pelham Prep) netted her first score of the season Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 3, as the Manhattanville College women's soccer team was defeated 4-1 by Western Connecticut State University at GoValiants.com Field.

For the Valiants (2-7), this is the first time this year they have played a game in which both teams have gotten on the board, ending the streak of eight to begin the season. Pacheco's goal was the loan one for Manhattanville, while freshman goalkeeper Alexa Pyatsky (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) was kept busy by the visiting Colonials (6-6). The rookie faced nine shots on goal, stopping five, while WestConn keeper Samantha Camacho made six saves.

Down 3-0 in the 66th minute, the Valiants were able to mount a rush on the Colonial net. Rookie forward Dani Fanning (Mission, Texas/Sharyland Pioneer) attempted a shot at close range that was saved by Camacho, but Pacheco was all over the rebound to beat the WCSU keeper for the score. Overall, Pacheco attempted a game-high-tying three shots and also tied the match-high with two on goal, while the assist was Fanning's first-career collegiate point. Fanning also attempted three shots and landed two on net.

Manhattanville will resume play this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 6. The Valiants will host Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Delaware Valley University, with kickoff at GoValiants.com Field scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
