Brooke Hadgraft (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) scored the first goal of her Valiant career as the Manhattanville College field hockey team beat the Albertus Magnus College Falcons 6-0 Thursday, Oct. 4 at GoValiants.com Field.
Manhattanville (3-7) scored four times in the first 7:16 with Thomas scoring both of her goals off assists from classmate
Robin Boot (Bedum, Netherlands/H.N. Werkman College) on penalty corners and Antinozzi scoring twice in 1:43, one of the goals coming off an assist from freshman
Ava Lantiere (Sag Harbor, N.Y./Pierson). Sophomore
Arnise King (Wilmington, Del./Concord) made it 5-0, scoring off a long pass from junior
Maisey Kettlewood (Nottingham, N.H./Dover) at 10:36.
King's goal marked the final score of a first half the Valiants out-shot Albertus Magnus (0-8) 12-1 while holding a 5-1 advantage in penalty corners.
Two minutes into the second half, Hadgraft, normally a defender, moved across midfield with freshman
Raquel Brown (Claymont, Del./Brandywine) and finished a two-on-none breakaway off an assist from Brown for a 6-0 Manhattanville lead. Boot added the final goal of the match at 45:14 following an excellent individual effort, dribbling along the end line from the left side before cutting towards the middle of the field and scoring.
Freshmen goalkeepers
Zoe Fillebrown (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) and
Erika Starost (River Edge, N.J./River Dell Regional) each played a half for the Valiants. Fillebrown picked up her second win of the season while Starost saw her first action in a Manhattanville uniform. Kasey Herrera made three saves for the Falcons.
Manhattanville returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. in a MAC Freedom road contest against the Delaware Valley Aggies.
