DOYLESTOWN, PA - Three different Valiants each scored a goal as the Manhattanville College field hockey team picked up a 3-1 road win in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play over the Delaware Valley University Aggies Saturday, Oct. 6 at Lipinski Field.
Sophomore
Lexi Crites (Middleboro, Mass./Kents Hill School) and junior
Robin Boot (Bedum, Netherlands/H.N. Werkman College) both scored a goal and added an assist, and sophomore
Arnise King (Wilmington, Del./Concord) scored for Manhattanville (4-7, 1-2 MACF), while freshman goalie
Zoe Fillebrown (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) made six saves for the Valiants. Alexa Aguilar scored for Delaware Valley (5-6, 0-3 MACF) while Kita Konerth made seven saves for the Aggies.
Crites tapped home her fourth goal of the season just past the midway point of the first half off assists from Boot and senior
Emily Antinozzi (Rye, N.Y./Rye). Less than three minutes later, following a save from Konerth that denied Crites her second goal of the day, King won the scramble for the ball in front and lifted the ball over a diving Konerth for a 2-0 Manhattanville lead.
At the end of the opening half, Aguilar scored on a penalty stroke opportunity, trimming Manhattanville's lead to 2-1.
With less than three minutes remaining in the second half, Boot provided an insurance goal off an assist from Crites, firing a shot through a series of bodies into the back of the cage. The Valiants are back in action on Thursday Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. when the Western Connecticut State Colonials make their way to GoValiants.com Field for a non-conference matchup.
