Michael Poggioreale (Thornwood, N.Y./Westlake), and freshman
Luke Shaffer (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) each recorded one hit.
GAME 1: DeSales 6, Manhattanville 4
DeSales put a run on the board in the first when Cody Mish walked, stole second, then stole third, coming in on a throwing error. After three consecutive scoreless innings, with both teams leaving men in scoring position on multiple occasions, DeSales put five on the board in the top of the fifth, the capper coming by way of Diaz's three-run shot just inside the right field foul pole.
Down six runs, Manhattanville rallied for four runs, all with two out, in the bottom half of the inning. Tebolt singled with one out, then after Shaffer lined out to center, Lynch singled to left. Senior
Danny Gallagher (Nanuet, N.Y./Paramus Catholic) then reached on an error by Mish, scoring Tebolt, and senior
Austin Pollack (Harrison, N.Y./) followed with an RBI single, scoring Lynch. After junior
Luke Scoggins (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) reached on an infield single, Matero drove in Gallagher and Pollack with a single to left.
Manhattanville put two runners on in the sixth, but Konner Schneider retired Gallagher to end the threat, then closed out the game with a 1-2-3 seventh.
GAME 2: DeSales 7, Manhattanville 0
Conner Lafferty put DeSales up in the first with a two-RBI single off sophomore
Ryan Ninivaggi (Throggs Neck, N.Y./Lehman), who stifled further damage by stranding two runners on base, part of a stretch extending into the fourth inning where he retired 11 of 12 Bulldog batters.
DeSales added five runs across the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to break the game open. Manhattanville put men on in the fourth, fifth, and seventh, but Kacergis didn't allow a single runner as far as third base.
The Valiants are back in action on the road Tuesday night in a non-conference game against Maritime College. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
