Emily Antinozzi (Rye, N.Y./Rye) recorded a goal and an assist and sophomore
Lexi Crites (Middleboro, Mass./Kents Hill School) added a goal, but the Manhattanville College field hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Marywood University Pacers in the Consolation Game of the 2018 Betty Richey Tournament Saturday afternoon, Sept. 1, at Poughkeepsie's Weinberg Turf Field.
Following three saves from sophomore goalkeeper
Elaina Nacinovich (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel), Crites scored the first goal of the match for Manhattanville (0-2) 14:48 into the game, but Marywood responded with goals on its next two shots and carried a 2-1 lead to the half.
After the Pacers (1-1) made it 3-1 one minute into the second half, the two sides went scoreless for nearly 24 minutes. At 59:27, Antinozzi brought Manhattanville back within one, but Marywood tacked on an insurance goal 23 seconds later. Juniors
Ameerah Thomas (Norfolk, Va./Granby) and
Maisey Kettlewood (Nottingham, N.H./Dover) were named to the All-tournament team.
Nacinovich played all 70 minutes in the cage and stopped seven of the Pacers' 11 shots on goal, while Kerri Mountz stopped three of the Valiants' five shots on goal. Manhattanville returns to action Thursday afternoon, Sept. 6, in its 2018 home opener at 4:30 against the Albertus Magnus College Falcons on the turf at GoValiants.com Field.
