GENEVA, N.Y. — The Manhattanville College field hockey team dropped its second consecutive 3-1 contest in the William Smith Classic on Sunday, Sept. 16 to the St. Lawrence University Saints. The Valiants (1-5) fell by the same 3-1 score to the host Herons on Saturday.
Junior
Robin Boot (Bedum, Netherlands/H.N. Werkman College) scored her first goal of the season for Manhattanville in the second half following an outstanding individual effort, dribbling through the St. Lawrence (2-4) defense, but the Valiants were unable to rally back from three first-half St. Lawrence goals. Bailey Sherwin scored twice for the Saints with her second goal coming with just five seconds left in the half.
Freshman goalie
Zoe Fillebrown (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) was exceptional after coming on in relief for the second half, recording five saves while not allowing a single goal. Manhattanville is back in action on the road on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 4 p.m. against the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas
