SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Manhattanville College men's tennis team took on Union College (N.Y.) Friday afternoon, Sept. 21, dropping an 8-1 decision to the Dutchmen at the Union Tennis Courts.
Junior
Juan Huertas (Bogotá, Colombia/La Salle (H.S.) (Calif.)) picked up the lone victory for the Valiants in first singles action, besting Austin Egna of Union in a three-set affair (6-2, 0-6, 1-0 (12-10)). In second singles, sophomore
Jan Senkerik (Zlin, Czech Republic/Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings (USPHL)) fell 6-0, 6-2 to Ioannis Binopoulos.
Freshman
Nick Schlapak (Dover, N.H./Dover) competed in third singles, also falling in straight sets to Max Egna (6-2, 6-0). In fourth singles, junior
Alex Fleischman (Riverside, Conn./King) dropped a straight set matchup with Del Schunk, 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman
Dylan Mund (Washington Township, N.J./Westwood Regional) was up in fifth singles, but he too was unable to come away with a victory, falling 6-2, 6-2 to Nick Weitzman. In sixth singles action, freshman
Jaime Peredo (Uruapan, México/Instituto Morelos) fell to Cameron Klepper 6-0, 6-0.
In first doubles competition, Binopoulos and Max McGeown defeated Huertas and Senkerik, 8-3. Schlapak and freshman
Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) were up next for Manhattanville, but fell to the duo of Egna and Egna 8-4 in second doubles. In third doubles, Schunk and Ian Bank defeated Fleischman and freshman
Nick Bongiorno (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai), 8-0.
