Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, PA. — The Manhattanville College men's tennis team had another impressive showing Sunday, on day two of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championships. In the team's first appearance since the program was restarted, the Valiants made the semifinals of the top four singles brackets, and made the finals of the top three. Manhattanville had wins over players from both the 2017 MAC Freedom and MAC Commonwealth champions.

Junior Juan Huertas (Bogotá, Colombia/La Salle (H.S.) (Calif.)), who advanced to the semifinal of first singles with two victories Saturday, advanced to the final with a three set victory over Tyler Millan of King's College (Pa.), 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (11-9), but ultimately fell in the final round to Wilkes University's Courtney Murphy (6-3, 6-4).

In second singles, sophomore Jan Senkerik (Zlin, Czech Republic/The Hill Academy) advanced to the semifinal by defeating Jorey Ferraro of DeSales University in straight sets (6-3, 6-0). In semifinal action, Senkerik took down Wilkes' Jonathan White in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, to advance to the final. Senkerik would take on Andre Sturniolo of Stevenson University, getting out to a 4-3 lead in the first set before Sturniolo retired from the match, giving Senkerik the victory and the championship. Senkerik winning the conference championship at second singles marked the first time since 2012 that Wilkes has not swept first and second singles.

Junior Alex Fleischman (Riverside, Conn./King) continued in third singles action Sunday, first defeating Keith Rader of Arcadia University, 6-2, 6-1, then followed that up with a straight set victory over Stevenson's Drew Ryan, 6-1, 6-3, to reach the final of his bracket. Fleischman would take on Chris Maderitz of Wilkes, but ultimately fell, 6-2, 6-0.

After being victorious in the first round of fourth singles Saturday, freshman Nick Schlapak (Dover, N.H./Dover) competed in the quarterfinals, defeating Elliot Kleckner of Lebanon Valley College in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Schlapak would then advance to the semifinal round against Wilkes' Larry Scartz, but Scartz would claim a 6-2, 6-4 victory.

Coming off a three-set victory Saturday, freshman Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) took on Ben Hinkley of Lebanon Valley, but fell in straight sets in the quarterfinals, 6-4, 6-3.

The Valiants finish out their fall schedule Wednesday, Oct. 17, when they take on ASA College in a scrimmage at the Manhattanville Tennis Courts.
