BROOKLYN, NY – Sophomore
Pablo Bravo Olle (Barcelona, Spain/LFG Bon Soleil) netted a pair of goals for the Manhattanville College men's soccer team, who dominated the Brooklyn College Bulldogs in a 5-0 shutout victory on Monday, Sept. 24, at Brooklyn College Field.
Junior
Tom Skinner (Fleet, United Kingdom/Calthorpe Park), sophomore
Felipe Gallo (Santos, Brazil/Montverde Academy), and freshman
Daniel Lombardo (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) were the other goal-scorers for Manhattanville (7-2). The Valiants outshot the Bulldogs 24-4, including a 10-2 advantage in attempts on goal. Manhattanville improved to 6-0 all-time against Brooklyn (1-9), with all six wins coming via shutout.
Lombardo scored first in the 17th minute, putting away a rebound after an initial shot from classmate
Nico Diaz (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) was saved by Brooklyn goalkeeper Arturo Zaraza. In the 23rd minute, Bravo Olle scored his first of the match off a right-to-left cross from freshman
Jeancarlo Vasquez (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane). Manhattanville had two corner kicks in the 32nd and 38th minutes, but could not add to the 2-0 lead they took into halftime.
A 58th-minute foul in the box against Brooklyn gave the Valiants a penalty kick Bravo Olle buried for a 3-0 advantage. In the 66th minute, Gallo notched his second goal of the season off an assist from freshman
Kenny Adiyiah (Chicago, Ill./Mundelein). In the 80th minute, a through-ball from freshman
Johnny Arauz (Brentwood, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) gave Skinner a goal in each of his last two appearances.
Freshman
Matt Rodriguez (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes) made his first collegiate start and registered two saves in 71:43 of action, picking up his first career win. The Valiants will enjoy the rest of the week off from game action before kicking off Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play on Saturday, September 29 at 4 p.m. against the reigning MAC Freedom regular season champion Eastern University Eagles, who Manhattanville knocked off 3-1 last year at GoValiants.com Field.
