Field Hockeys Offense Dominates Dean College

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Manhattanville College field hockey program shutdown Dean College earlier today, Saturday, Oct. 12, with an offensive takeover win. The Valiants beat the Bulldogs 11-0 having two players with a hat trick as well as three additional goal scorers.

Seven Valiants (10-3, 3-0) tallied points in the team win today, the first goal was assisted by senior Maisey Kettlewood (Nottingham, N.H./Dover) in the second minute of the game. She passed the ball to junior Lexi Crites (Middleboro, Mass./Kents Hill School) who was able to start the offensive momentum.

In the second quarter, Crites added another goal to the score, she was assisted by sophomore Raquel Brown (Claymont, Del./Brandywine). A few minutes later, senior Ameerah Thomas (Norfolk, Va./Granby) took a shot and Bulldogs (1-10, 0-2) goalie Alexis Masse denied her attempt. Thomas got the rebound off the save and stuck her shot in the back of the net increasing the score to 3-0. Four minutes later, a penalty corner was called and Thomas was able to once again stick her shot past Dean's defense. Thomas secured her hat trick late in the second quarter after Kettlewood found Thomas in an open lane. With 30 seconds remaining in the half, Crites too earned a hat trick and made the score 6-0.

Junior Arnise King (Wilmington, Del./Concord) came out strong in the third having two back-to-back goals, her second goal was assisted by senior Robin Boot (Bedum, Netherlands/H.N. Werkman College). Freshman Ava Panzer (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling) joined in on the goal scoring as she scored two goals within two minutes. One of Panzer's goals was assisted by freshman Felicity Williams (Glen Falls, N.Y./Glen Falls) and the other once again by Boot. The last goal for Manhattanville was scored by Kettlewood in the final minutes of the game, this was her first goal of the 2019 season.

The Valiants have another New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) match up tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 13, in Leicester, Mass. They will take on the University of Maine-Farmington at 11:30 a.m. on Becker College Alumni Field.
