WAYNE, N.J. -- The Manhattanville College women's tennis team defeated William Paterson University by a score of 6-3 on Sunday, Oct. 6. The Valiants have now won two-straight matches and three out of their last four.
Manhattaville (3-4, 2-2 Skyline) executed at both doubles and singles on their way to victory. The Valiants took two out of three doubles matches to start the day. At first doubles, sophomore Renay Charley (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) and senior Izzy Lovejoy (Madison, Conn./Forman School) won by a score of 8-0 and at second doubles, sophomore Kelsey Ulzheimer (Franklin Square, N.Y./H. Frank Carey) and senior Sunny Tonnesen (Oslo, Norway/EF Academy) earned an 8-4 win.
In singles play, Manhattanville defeated William Paterson (0-8, 0-5 NJAC) in four out of the six matches. The Valiants' wins came at the first, second, third and sixth spots. At first singles, Charley won 6-1, 6-0, at second singles, Tonnesen won 6-2, 6-3, at third singles, Lovejoy won 6-0, 6-4 and at sixth singles freshman Amaya Carver (Bronx, N.Y./Mount Vernon) won 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Charley is undefeated in singles play this season for the Valiants with a record of 7-0 and she has only one loss in doubles-play.
The Crimson and White return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 9, for a Skyline conference matchup against St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn in Queens, N.Y. starting at 7:00 P.M.
