RYE, N.Y. -- The Manhattanville College men's hockey team was defeated by United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) opponent Stevenson University by a score of 5-0 at the Playland Ice Casino in Rye, N.Y. The Valiants have now lost four of their last five games.
Stevenson (4-1, 3-1 UCHC) set the tone early with three first period goals. They outshot Manhattanville (2-4-1, 1-4 UCHC) 12-4 in the period as well and then never looked back after taking a stranglehold on the game.
The second period went similarly to the first. Despite switching from junior goalie Mac Vail (East Elmhurst, N.Y./Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (EHL)) to sophomore goalie Reid Robertson (Plano, Texas/Plano West), the Valiants still let in two goals during the period. The third period was uneventful. Manhattanville was able to keep Stevenson out of the net, but the damage had already been done and the game ended with a final score of 5-0.
The story of the night was the powerplay. The Valiants were scoreless on seven man-up opportunities and the Mustangs went two-for-five with a man advantage in the game. The final shot count was 25-14 in favor of the Mustangs.
The Crimson and White are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 23, for 3:30 P.M. puck drop against Chatham University at the Playland Ice Casino in Rye, N.Y.
