PITTSTON, Pa. – The Manhattanville College men's ice hockey team picked up a 6-4 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory on the road Saturday afternoon, Dec. 7, over King's College (Pa.). Rookie forward
Noah Bradley (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) – the defending UCHC Rookie of the Week – continued his strong play of late and notched four points (2G, 2A) in the win.
The Valiants (5-6-1, 3-5 UCHC) started off quickly and scored a pair of goals in the first 14:25 of the initial period to go up 2-0. Bradley started it off with the game's first goal at 7:31 into the period – assisted by sophomore forward
Niko Happo (Kauniainen, Finland/Haukilahti Upper Secondary School) and fellow first-year forward
Dylan Pollak (New Fairfield, Conn./South Kent School) – to make it 1-0. Happo followed up with his second goal in as many games, and of the season, this time on the man-advantage, following an interference call on King's (1-7, 1-6 UCHC) to make it 2-0 at 14:25. Freshman forward
Nick Prestia (Niagara Falls, Ont./Salisbury School) and sophomore forward assistant captain
Alex Rowella (Ridgefield, Conn./Holy Cross (H.S.)) assisted on the score.
The hosting Monarchs fired back quickly in under two minutes to tie it at 2-2 and even out the game's momentum. However, senior co-captain defenseman
Ryan Jackson (Montreal, Que./Pomfret School) scored his second goal in as many games, and of the season, as well to give the Valiants a 3-2 lead – assisted by rookie forward
Conner Hunt (Frisco, Texas/iSchool High) – with 1:37 remaining until the first intermission.
After a five-goal first period, the teams combined for four more goals in the second. King's started off the scoring to tie it up on the powerplay at 4:46 into the period, but Bradley fired back less than two minutes later – also on the powerplay – to make it 4-3 at 6:31 into the second. Happo and Prestia picked up their second assists on the day as well. Prestia struck next for the Valiants – the first of his collegiate career – at 8:15, once again on the powerplay to make it 5-3 as Bradley picked up his first assist on the day. The Monarchs got one back before the end of the period to make it 5-4 heading into the third. Senior forward assistant captain
Ken McLean (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) was able to ice the game in an otherwise scoreless period just 00:28 into the third – assisted by fellow fourth-year assistant captain defenseman
Joel Knight (Stoney Creak, Ont./Orchard Park Secondary School) and Bradley.
