BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's tennis team began spring competition Saturday afternoon, Feb. 23, with a dual match at Division II Concordia College. The Valiants were defeated by the Clippers 9-0.
 
Manhattanville began with some tough competition in doubles, highlighted by top pair junior Juan Huartas and sophomore Maguire Blake. The duo fell to Concordia's Max Grundermann and Henry Masters 8-4.
 
In singles play, freshman Alvaro de la Plaza (Malaga, Spain/Homeschooled (Laurel Springs, Calif.)) slotted in a No. 2 and took six games from his opponent William Nilsson of the Clippers, but ultimately fell 6-2, 6-2. Fellow rookie Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) took a pair of games in the second set at No. 5 singles, but fell to Nicolas Sitaras 6-0, 6-2.
