Keenan's Second Half Outburst Paces Women's Lacrosse Comeback Win Over Old Westbury

PURCHASE, NY – Freshman Lara Keenan (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) scored all seven of her goals in the second half, leading a comeback win for the Manhattanville Valiants over the SUNY Old Westbury Panthers, 12-8, Saturday Mar. 9 from GoValiants.com Field.

Keenen finished with seven goals for Manhattanville (2-0), giving her 15 in her first two collegiate games. Sophomore Diana Piacquadio (Port Washington, N.Y./Gilmour Academy) added two goals in her first action of the season and classmate Haley Destasio added a goal and two assists; junior goalie Bella Marchiselli (Williston Park, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) added 11 saves. Alessia Drevnyak and Natasha Treuman each had three goals for Old Westbury (1-2).

Old Westbury scored four of the game's first six goals, with scores from Destasio and fellow sophomore Bella Cosentino (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) keeping the Valiants close early on. Piacquadio answered Drevnyak's first goals of the game with two of her own to close the margin to one, 5-4, but Drevnyak scored the final goal of the first half and the first goal of the second half, putting the Panthers up 7-4.

From there, Keenan took complete control of the game, embarking on a personal 5-0 run – adding three draw controls for good measure – shooting Manhattanville out in front 9-7 with just under 13 minutes to play.
Treuman completed her hat trick just over a minute later to pull Old Westbury back within one, but two more from Keenan, as well as the first collegiate goal from freshman Ally Petricca (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial), put the game out of reach. Manhattanville finished with a 38-19 advantage in shots on goal.

The Valiants will welcome the Mount St. Mary College Knights to Purchase Thursday, Mar. 14 for a 5:30 p.m. non-conference affair from GoValiants.com Field.
