Valiants Unable to Pick Up Conference Win Over FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. - The Manhattanville women's lacrosse team fell in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play, dropping their matchup to Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Wednesday, April 24 by a score of 20-3 at Shields Field.

Manhattanville (5-9, 1-5 MACF) got out to an early lead courtesy of a goal by freshman attack Brialee Logue (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) with just under two minutes gone by in the first half. The Valiants would then concede 14 consecutive goals to FDU (8-7, 5-1 MACF). The Devils responded with two goals in a 1:03 span to take a 2-1 lead, then added three more in a span of 56 seconds to push the lead to 5-1. Caroline Pape and Aliyha Elk both scored a pair of consecutive goals for the home team, and the Devils ended the first half with three more goals to push the lead to 13-1 at the break.

FDU opened up the second half with another goal to extend the lead further, but the Valiants drew closer with two consecutive goals by freshman midfielder Ally Petricca (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial), with the assists on both goals coming from freshman midfielder Lara Keenan (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central). That was the closest Manhattanville got the rest of the way, as the Devils added six more goals the rest of the way to pick up a 20-3 victory.

On the day for the Valiants, Petricca scored twice and Keenan picked up two assists, while freshman defender Kasey Molito (Whitman, Mass./Whitman-Hanson Regional) picked up three ground balls.

The Valiants will conclude their season Saturday, April 27, when the team hosts King's College (Pa.) on Senior Day, with game time scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
