PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's soccer team took a tough non-conference loss Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18, by a score of 9-0 at the hands of former Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham at home on GoValiants.com Field.
The Valiants (2-4) got off to a slow start and committed a pair of fouls, including one early in the seventh minute of the game and gave the Devils (7-0-1) a free kick from nearly 40 yards out. The FDU-Florham cross resulted in sophomore keeper
Alexa Pyatsky (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) coming out of the net to play it, but the Devils were quicker and capitalized to take the early 1-0 lead.
The road team scored four more times in the first half, including several strikes from distance, before heading into the break ahead 5-0. FDU scored four more in the second half, as the Valiants swapped keepers to sophomore
Steph Shalhoub (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) to start the second 45 minutes.
Manhattanville will take a quick one-day break before returning to action Friday afternoon, Sept. 20, and open up Skyline Conference play when Yeshiva University visits GoValiants.com Field for a 1:00 p.m. match. It's the first-ever match between the Valiants and Maccabees.s
