SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's soccer team lost for the first time this season at the hands of Union College. The loss came on the road on Saturday, Sept. 7, at College Park Field and pushed the team's record to 1-1-1 on the year.
The Valiants began the game on top when junior midfielder
Pablo Bravo Olle (Barcelona, Spain/LFG Bon Soleil) tallied the first goal of the game and his second of the season in the second minute off of an assist from sophomore midfielder
Nico Diaz (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto). Manhattanville struggled to muster much offense for the rest of the half and Union (2-0) notched two goals in the 20th and 43rd minutes to make the score 2-1 at halftime.
Union continued their offensive groove in the second half and put three more goals in the back of the net in the 50th, 56th and 72nd minutes. Manhattanville managed to earn four corner kick opportunities in the second but were unfortunately unable to capitalize on them. The game would end with a final score of 5-1.
The Crimson and White are in action again, tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. The team will look to bounce back and earn its second win of the season.
