Men's Soccer Falls Short at RPI

TROY, N.Y. — The Manhattanville College men's soccer team was defeated by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Sunday, Sept. 8. The loss came on the road at ECAV Stadium and pushed the Valiants record to 1-2-1 on the season.

The game against RPI (3-1) was the second of two-game road trip over the weekend for Manhattanville. The Engineers jumped out to an early lead over the Crimson and White with two goals in the 29th and 37th minutes. Manhattanville was not able to answer with any goals of its own in either half.

Both teams were scoreless in the second half and offense was limited for each side. Things began to get contentious late in the second half and in a span of five minutes, four yellow cards were given out beginning in the 73rd minute -- two for each team. Despite the heightened intensity, no more cards were given out or goals scored. The game ended with a score of 2-0 in favor of the Engineers.

Manhattanville returns to action next Saturday, Sept. 14, against Drew University, once again on the road in Madison, N.J. The Valiants will look to get back on track and earn another win.
