Women's Hockey Remains Undefeated in UCHC-play, Defeats WIlkes 4-0

RYE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's hockey earned a 4-0 victory over United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) opponent Wilkes University on Friday, Jan. 17, in Rye, N.Y. The story of the night was the power play. Three of the Valiants goals came with the man-advantage.
 
The first period was all Manhattanville (8-5-2, 6-0 UCHC) as they took an early 1-0 lead. The Valiants were on the attack early and often, outshooting Wilkes (2-10, 1-5 UCHC) 18-2. The game's first goal came midway through the period. Junior forward Adelle Clark (Lantzville, B.C./Ontario Hockey Academy) shoveled in a rebound off a shot from senior defender Zoey Pellowitz (Arlington, Va./Washington Pride (JWHL)) who was credited with the assist.
 
Penalties were the story of the second period. Manhattanville scored two more power play goals to make the score 3-0 after two periods of play. Goals came from Pellowitz and junior forward Taylor Ham (Saugerties, N.Y./Millbrook School). Senior forward Amanda Sabia (Freehold, N.J./The Gunnery), sophomore defender Holly Meredith (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Vermont Academy) and sophomore forward Ana Tittmann (Salisbury, Conn./Housatonic Valley Regional) were all credited with assists. In total there were 10 penalties in the period, seven of them going against the Colonels.
 
The Valiants continued to pile on the pressure in the third period. They added one more goal from Ham, assisted by junior forward Tianna Lopes (West Vancouver, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers (JWHL)) and outshot their opponent 61-10 in the game. Freshman goalie Lena Flores (Chicago, Ill./Guerin College Prep) had a successful night in net and picked up a shutout in her third win of the season.
 
The Crimson and White return to the ice once again tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 18 for another UCHC matchup against King's College. The game is set for a 12:00 P.M. puck drop at the Playland Ice Casino in Rye, N.Y.
