FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Manhattanville College baseball team fell to Pennsylvania State University Abington by a score of 7-6 in extra innings, Sunday, Feb. 23. Six different Valiants recorded hits and senior outfielder Luke Tebolt (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) went 2-5 with one RBI.
Manhattanville (0-3) took an early lead with at least one run in each of the first five innings. The score was 6-4 after a two-run fifth inning that was headlined by a two RBI double to left center from freshman outfielder Jake Parisi (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach).
Penn St. Abington (1-1) then began to make a comeback beginning in the seventh inning as they cut to lead to one. The score was 6-5 entering the bottom of ninth inning and a solo home run from the Nittany Lions sent the game to extra innings. Penn St. Abington scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the tenth inning to earn the win.
The Valiants return to the field next weekend when they travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C., to play four games over the course of three days. The team's first game is set for 1:00 P.M. against John Jay College, Saturday, Feb. 29.
