Manhattanville Men's Soccer Extends Win Streak to Five

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's soccer moved atop the Skyline Conference standings on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win over Farmingdale State College. The Valiants improved to 7-4-2 overall and 6-0-1 in conference play, now the last team standing in the Skyline without a conference loss.

While Farmingdale held the advantage in opportunities, the Valiants were able to execute on their offensive chances to the tune of a pair of second half goals. After a scoreless 45 minutes, Jackson Ayres (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half off a pass from Gabe Jeffries. Michael Mezzina (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Morris Catholic) would add an insurance goal in the 81st minute off a penalty kick as Manhattanville collected their fifth straight victory.

The Rams had a number of chances in the first half to get on the board, firing ten shots versus Manhattanville's two in the period. Luis Granados (Pasadena, Calif./St. Francis), fresh off of being named the Skyline's Rookie of the Week, played another great game in net to keep Farmingdale scoreless. The sophomore netminder made seven saves for his fourth shutout in five games. With the clean sheet, Granados passes Farmingdale's Justin Silva as the Skyline leader in goals against average, dropping his mark on the season to 0.58.
