PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's soccer team concluded the regular season on Wednesday night, earning a 1-0 victory over St. Joseph's College-Long Island. With the win, the Valiants secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship tournament and earn a first-round bye in the process.

In a tightly-contested matchup,
Megan Leser (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) played the role of hero on the night. The sophomore picked the best possible opportunity for her first collegiate goal, breaking a scoreless affair late in the second half.
Natalie Aracena (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbride Academy) was able to find Leser with a pass directly in front of the St. Joseph's net, allowing her to fire a shot past Golden Eagles' keeper Mikayla Ritter to the right side of the net in the 75
th minute.
From there, the Valiant defense shut the door, wrapping up an evening where they essentially shut down the Golden Eagles offense. St. Joseph's was limited just two shots in the contest, both coming in the first half.
Alexa Pyatsky (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) was tested in goal once, stopping a Julia Cruz shot 26 minutes into the game.
Afterwards, the ball remained on the St. Joseph's side of the field for a majority of the contest. The Valiants kept chipping away at the Golden Eagles backline with 17 second0half shots before Leser was finally able to break through with the winner.
