TROY, N.Y. – A five-goal second quarter effectively put Tuesday night's contest away, as the Manhattanville College field hockey team was defeated by RPI, 9-0. With the loss, Manhattanville falls to 0-12 on the year.
Manhattanville was held without a shot until the third quarter, logging all four of their shot attempts in the third quarter. The Engineers held a 22-4 shot advantage in the contest, logging 15 shots on net while the Valiants were held to zero for a second straight contest.
Abbey Playle (San Jose, CA/Leigh High School) led the Valiants with a pair of shot attempts.
Cat Morgan (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior), the NECC Defensive Player of the Week, made six saves in the contest for the Crimson and White.
All nine RPI goals were scored by different Engineers. After a scoreless first quarter, the Engineers netted five goals in the second quarter ahead of half time. RPI would add two more goals in both of the remaining periods. Brianna Duba scored a goal and also led RPI with seven shots, three on goal.
