PURCHASE, N.Y. – A four-goal effort by the opposition's Adelle Foss was too much for the Manhattanville College field hockey team to overcome on Saturday, as the Valiants were bested by conference foe Husson University 6-1. With the loss, Manhattanville falls to 1-13 on the year and 0-5 against the NECC.
The Eagles staked claim to a 4-0 lead at the half, scoring twice in each of the first two quarters. Foss would record a hat trick on her third goal of the half in the 21
st minute, while Teagan Blackie represented the other Husson goal.
Foss netted her fourth goal of the day three and a half minutes into the second half.
Felicity Williams (Glen Falls, N.Y./Glen Falls) was able to get the Valiants on the board five minutes later, finishing a pass from
Kate Buckley (South Burlington, Vt./Rice Memorial). For the junior Williams, it was her third goal in the last two games to bring her season total to seven on the season, while Buckley recorded her second assist of the season for her 10
th point of the year.
The Eagles would go on to add one more goal in the fourth courtesy of Phoebe Joy.
Florence Harrison (Melbourne, Australia/Balwyn High School) and
Cat Morgan (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior) split goaltending responsibilities, play a half each and combining for five saves. The Eagles were able to sustain pressure on the Valiant side of the field all day long, drawing 15 penalty corners and outshooting Manhattanville, 19-4.
