PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College baseball team opened its 2021 abbreviated season with a split in Skyline Conference road action versus the Purchase College Panthers (1-1, 1-1 Skyline). Manhattanville claimed victory with a 3-1 decision in the opener before Purchase solidified the series split with a 7-6 win from Purchase College Baseball Field. The Valiants (1-1, 1-1 Skyline) are now 12-6 all-time against the Panthers dating back to 2004 campaign.

- After a scoreless two innings, Manhattanville scored the opening run in the third as Joseph Silvestri (Bronx, N.Y., Archbishop Stepinac) rounded home off Tyler Mandel's (Scarsdale, N.Y., Scarsdale) sacrifice fly out to center. Silvestri led off the frame with a single through the right side of the infield.
- The Valiants padded the lead with two runs scored in the fifth inning off Panther starter Cody Hennequin. Jack Matero's (Hopewell Junction, N.Y., John Jay) RBI double pushed across Matt Lynch (Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Roy C. Ketcham) to score the game-winning run. Metero scored two batters later off Anthony Quatrochi's (Fishkill, N.Y., Our Lady of Lourdes) sacrifice fly out to make it a 3-0 game and conclude Hennequin's outing.
- Purchase broke into the scoring column in the fifth after Matthew Mulligan was pushed 90 feet off Isaac Reyes' RBI single

- Trailing 4-2 after five innings of play, Manhattanville scored three straight runs, one in the sixth and two in the seventh, to recapture the lead. In the seventh, Silvestri flied out to right to plate Brian McBride (Putnam Valley, N.Y., Putnam Valley) home and Brian Bornkamp (North Massapequa, N.Y., Plainedge) advanced 90 feet home off Lynch's ground out, making it a 5-4 game.
- Purchase answered back with two run scored in the bottom of the seventh to regain the lead, 6-5. The inning was headlined by James Shea's RBI single to score Max Vera and then later scoring off Dylan Flynn's double.
- The Valiants knotted the game at six in the eighth inning as Justin Renauto (Valhalla, N.Y., Valhalla) scored off Johnny Mariano's (Eastchester, N.Y., Eastchester) sacrifice fly out.
