PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College softball team opened its 2021 abbreviated season Saturday afternoon at home falling 6-0 in the Skyline Conference opener before claiming the 9-3 finale win to split the twinbill with the 2019 defending champions Farmingdale State College Rams (3-3, 3-2 Skyline) from Manhattanville College Softball Field in Purchase, New York. Meeting for the first time since 2014, the Valiants (1-1, 1-1 Skyline) are now 15-5 all-time against the Rams.

- After a scoreless three innings, Farmingdale State broke the scoring ice in the fourth by scoring two runs off Valiant starter Charli Shinstine (Encinitas, Calif/San Dieguito Academy). Allie Stanya slapped a two-RBI double to score Gianna DiLillo, who scored the game-winning run, and Angelina Capuano for the 2-0 advantage.
- The Rams tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning as a Jessica Lombardo single pushed across Jessica Clark to make it a 3-0 game. Brooke Walker scored Farmingdale's fourth run off a passed ball.
- Farmingdale State added two insurance runs in the seventh inning to settle the 6-0 final.
- Rams starter Stanya earned her second complete game shutout of the season.

- Farmingdale State broke the scoring ice with a single run in the third inning off Valiant starter Jasmine Feliciano (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern). Clark used a leadoff double to reach base before scoring off Julianna Prescia's two-out single for the early 1-0 lead.
- Manhattanville answered in the bottom frame of the third with four runs scored on Rams starter Christina Loeffler, highlighted by back-to-back doubles courtesy of Sarah Harker (Irvine, Calif./Irvine) and DeLuca. Harker's double pushed across Isela Casillas (Chula Vista, Calif./Eastlake) and Brooke Franson (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar) to gain the 2-1 lead. Harker rounded home off DeLuca's double for the Valiants' 3-1 advantage. Sitting on third two batters later, DeLuca advanced 90 feet home off Abby Tanuma's (Chula Vista, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) sacrifice fly out to right to extend the lead to three, 4-1.
- The Valiants padded their lead by putting together a two-run fifth inning. DeLuca singled up the middle for Franson to score the game-winning run before touching home plate off a throwing error by first base Lombardo to make it a 6-1 game.
- The Rams capitalized off a bases loaded situation in the sixth plating home two runs. With one-out on the board, Priscilla Rivera singled to score Amaris Negron. Lombardo earned a two-out walk from Feliciano to advance Lexie Collard home to pull within three, 6-3.
- Leading off the bottom half of the sixth, Taylor Baumann (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) launched her first-career solo home run over the left center field fence to push the Valiant lead to four, 7-3. Manhatanville tacked on two additional runs in the frame to claim the 9-3 lead.
- A fielding error by shortstop Franson scored Prescia before Feliciano induced Rivera to pop out and settle the 9-4 final.
