PURCHASE, N.Y. – After upsetting the second-seeded Stevenson University Mustangs Thursday evening (Apr. 1) by a score of 4-1, the Manhattanville College women's ice hockey team secured a spot in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference semifinals. Making their 17th conference tournament semifinal appearance, first-year head coach
Jennifer MacAskill will take her sixth-seeded Valiants north in hopes of dethroning the top-seeded and defending champions Elmira College Soaring Eagles (11-1) Saturday afternoon.
WHEN and WHERE: Saturday, April 3, at 4 P.M. from Murray Athletic Center in Pine Valley, New York. In accordance with the announcement made by New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo on Tuesday, March 30, Elmira College will allow spectators at its home athletic events. At this time, Elmira College is only allowing:
- Students of the host institution
- Parent(s)/Guardian(s)/Relatives of host institution participating student-athletes
- Faculty/Staff/Administrators of host institution

POSTSEASON HISTORY: Manhattanville fell short on its quest to capturing its ninth conference championship against Elmira in the title game a season ago. The Valiants have had postseason success, winning seven-straight ECAC East Conference Tournaments (2001-02 to 2007-08) and added its eighth championship in 2010-11. Overall, the Valiants hold a 31-11 all-time record in conference tournament games.
SEASON/ALL-TIME SERIES: During the abbreviated 2020-21 season, Elmira swept the regular-season series over Manhattanville with victories of 7-1 (Feb. 26) and 10-2 (Feb. 27). Meeting for the 36th time, the Valiants will be seeking its first victory over the Soaring Eagles from Murray Athletic Center since 2010.
LEADING THE WAY: The Valiants will lean on the leadership of
Morgan Miller (St. Augustine, Fla./Gilmour Academy),
Tianna Lopes (West Vancouver, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers (JWHL)),
Taylor Ham (Saugerties, N.Y./Millbrook School) and
Franny Gerardi (Yonkers, N.Y./Selects Academy) during this postseason run.
AND THEN THERE WAS FOUR: The second semifinal matchup of the 2021 UCHC Women's Championship Tournament on Saturday is No.5 Nazareth University at No.3 Chatham University at 4 P.M. The winners of Saturday's semifinals will square off in the UCHC Tournament finals next Tuesday (Apr. 5) hosted by the highest seed remaining.
