PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's lacrosse team fell to Skyline Conference opponent Farmingdale State College by a score of 19-8, Tuesday, April 20. Sophomore midfielder
Maura Kelly (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) led the Valiants (2-3) with two goals and one assist for three total points in the home loss.
Manhattanville took an early one-goal lead when junior midfielder
Lara Keenan (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) found the back of the net just three and a half minutes into the game. Farmingdale then went on a seven-goal run. The Valiants attempted to battle back with goals from sophomore attacker
Marisa D'Angelo (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) and junior attacker
Brialee Logue (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet), but could not close the gap. The score at half was 12-4.
The second half was back-and-forth with neither team making a significant run. Kelly scored both of her goals in the second half, but the Crimson and White could not generate enough offense to climb back into the game. The Rams outscored the Valiants 7-4 in the second half to secure the 19-8 win. Senior midfielder
Hailey DeStasio (West Hempstead, N.Y./West Hempstead) led Manhattanville in assists with two.
The team will return to action, Saturday, April 24 for an away game against Skyline opponent St. Joseph's College-Long Island. Opening draw is set for 3:30 P.M. at Danzi Stadium in Patchogue, N.Y.
